get ready to welcome the year of the dog january 29th, 2006!

the chinese new year is an important celebration all over the world including canada. there are similar new years celebrations in japan, korea and vietnam known as the lunar new year or the spring festival. celebrations today are both literal and symbolic. spring cleaning is started about a month prior to chinese new year and must be completed before the celebrations begin. sooo, i better get cleaning....ha ha funny?

as the dust settles, i thought you might like to know ......toronto celebrates the lunar new year at the automotive building in exhibition place. there will be plenty to do taste + see at the festival. many visitors return every year to partake + enjoy a cultural experience.

facts: there has been a chinese community in canada since before confederation and the chinese now compromise the largest visible minority group in canada. did you know that there are approximately 1 029 395 chinese living in canada, even more today. infact toronto is possibly home to over 735 000 chinese in canada, ontario being the highest among the provinces + vancover could possibly reach 591 000.[check out
